How Ordering Works

Four simple steps from idea to finished building.

  1. Pick a type and size

Browse the building types above, or play with sizes, doors and colors in our free 3D designer. You can save and share your design.

  2. Get your price

Call us, stop by any of our three lots or send a quote request. We price your exact building and send your quote the same business day.

  3. Get your site ready

Pick a level, clear spot on grass, gravel, asphalt or concrete. You handle the permit, and the metal building company offers a service to help with it. Want a concrete slab? You arrange it, and we’re happy to recommend concrete contractors.

  4. Order and install

Sign your paperwork at a lot or over the phone. Your deposit depends on the building’s price. The metal building company’s crew delivers your building, puts it together on your site and anchors it down. Once you send us a photo of your ready site, install is normally about 4 to 8 weeks, depending on lead times, weather and holidays.

Your Options, Explained

New to metal buildings? Here is what the choices mean in plain words. These are the options you will see in our 3D designer, and our team will help you decide what is right for your site.

Roof styles: regular, A-frame or vertical
  • Regular: rounded edges with panels running front to back. The simplest and most budget-friendly look, best for smaller carports.
  • A-frame (horizontal): a peaked, house-style roof with boxed edges, but the panels still run front to back.
  • Vertical: a peaked roof with panels running from the peak down to the edge, so rain, leaves and pine straw slide straight off. It usually costs a little more.

Our recommendation: vertical. Because water and debris run straight off, a vertical roof is the one we suggest for most buildings. Tell us what you are covering and we will help you choose.

Built on site: no floor, your choice of surface

A metal building is not delivered in one piece. The install crew brings the parts and builds it right where it will stand. It does not come with a floor, so the frame sits on the surface you choose:

  • Grass or level ground: fine for many carports and covers.
  • Gravel: a clean, well-drained base.
  • Asphalt: works if you already have a paved spot.
  • Concrete: the most finished choice for a garage or workshop.

Every building comes anchored to its surface. The spot needs to be level and clear before install day. If you want a concrete slab, you arrange the concrete, and we can recommend contractors.

Size and height

Metal buildings are listed as width x length x height. Height is the side wall (leg) height, not the peak. Measure what you will park or store, then leave room to walk around it and open doors. Taller roll-up doors and RVs need taller side walls.

Sides and ends: open, partly closed or fully enclosed

Leave a carport open, close in one or more sides, add gable ends at the top, or enclose the whole building. Wall panels can run up and down (vertical) or side to side (horizontal). You can also close off a storage room at the end or side of a carport.

Doors, windows and frame-outs

Add roll-up garage doors, walk-in doors and windows wherever you need them. A frame-out is a framed opening ready for a door or window you supply. Custom-size garage doors are special-order items, so they can cost more and take longer. If you want the crew to install doors or windows you supply yourself, that is an extra charge, priced by the metal building company.

Colors and two-tone looks

Pick separate colors for the roof, walls and trim, and add a wainscot (a contrasting band along the bottom of the walls) for a two-tone look. Our 3D designer shows Black, Blue, Bright White, Brown, Burgundy, Burnished Slate, Charcoal, Clay, Galvalume, Gray, Green, Light Stone, Pewter Gray, Red and Tan, plus premium Bright Red, Copper Penny and Gallery Blue. Screen colors can look a little different in person.

Frame, metal sheeting and certified buildings

Our metal buildings have a frame of 14-gauge metal tubing (the legs, trusses and other framing) covered with 26-gauge metal sheeting. Gauge measures thickness, and a lower number means thicker metal.

Some counties and HOAs require a certified building, engineered for set wind and snow loads. Certified and engineered options can be quoted, so ask us what your location needs.

Insulation, lean-tos and extras

Insulation (roof only or the full building) helps with heat and condensation, especially in a garage or workshop. Other add-ons in our designer include lean-tos, 1-foot roof overhangs, extra trusses, colored screws and a cupola.

Metal Building Questions

What kinds of metal buildings can I order?

Carports, garages and workshops, metal barns, RV and boat covers, lean-tos and larger commercial-size buildings. Our metal buildings are fully customizable, so you choose the size, roof style, sides, doors, windows and colors.

How much does a metal building cost?

Every metal building is priced for its exact size and options, so we quote each one instead of listing prices. Send us your idea or your 3D design, or give us a call, and we will send your price the same business day.

Can I design my building online?

Yes. Our free 3D designer lets you try sizes, roof styles, doors, windows and colors and save your design. Custom designs are priced by our team, so send your design or call us for a quote.

Do I have to come to a lot to order?

No, but you are welcome to. All three of our lots (Leland, Winnabow and Ocean Isle Beach) sell metal buildings. If you can’t make it in, we can handle your order over the phone and send you the documents to sign. Call (910) 240-2276.

Does a metal building come with a floor?

No. Metal buildings are built on your site and sit on the surface you choose: grass, gravel, asphalt or concrete. Every building comes anchored. If you want a concrete slab, you arrange the concrete, and we can recommend concrete contractors. Need a building with a floor that is delivered in one piece? See our Old Hickory sheds.

Do I need a permit?

Getting any permits is the customer’s responsibility, and the rules depend on your county, city and HOA, so check with them before you order. Under the North Carolina Residential Building Code, accessory buildings with any side longer than 12’ need a permit. The metal building company offers a service to help with the permit process, so just ask.

Is delivery and installation included?

For most buildings, yes. We are an authorized dealer, and the metal building company’s crew delivers your building and installs it on your site. If you want the crew to install doors or windows you supply yourself, that costs extra, and the metal building company prices that work.

How long does a metal building take?

Once you send us a photo of your ready site, install normally takes about 4 to 8 weeks. Timing depends on the metal building company’s lead times, weather and holidays, and their crew puts your building up on your site.

Is rent-to-own or financing available for metal buildings?

Yes, rent-to-own is available on metal buildings. Ask us for the terms on your building. Our 90 days same as cash option is for wood buildings only and does not apply to metal buildings.

What warranty comes with a metal building?

The warranty is set and honored by the metal building company. It typically runs from 90 days to 1 year, and we will share the details for your building with your quote.

Where do you deliver metal buildings?

We sell and deliver metal buildings in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia and Tennessee. Our three sales lots are in Brunswick County, NC.
